Python script to Control Map (2 way communication)

Hi,

I want to create a add-in which can query over a layer and can show all selected feature attributes in same window only. Also user can highlight a feature by selecting it (just like attribute table) and here I want to add some calculations.

Lets say user will select a feature from same window and it will show some calculations in front of that feature temporarily. Only after completing the process those temporary calculations will be added as fields to the feature.

Is it possible to do it ? Is there any example available which can show two way communication between python window and map ?
