I have a text field which should only have 13 characters (the remaining are spurious) I have looked at the trim function but cannot get it to work. Is there a python method to do this? Had a look at http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/...0000002m000000 but it seems to only say 'return a variant' rather than remove characters.
