We have developed a script that will apply a .lyr file to a feature class. This layer file contains representation rules which are added to this feature class. The script will then change the rule IDs in the attribute table to match the feature code on each row.
The problem we are having is all rules remain even if they are not being used on the map. So the legend contains every possible rule. Is there a way to remove rules with Python?
Also, the layer file cannot be trimmed on the front end. It contains all the possiblities for symbology purposes.
